Once you get past how sad it is, his little handicap makes you love him more. He was born with the joints in his back legs backwards. We thought that it could be surgically corrected, which it could! The surgery would involve clipping all of the tendons in his hind legs and reversing them so his knees and ankles bent the right way. But since he's not in any pain and the surgery is so extensive his little body couldn't take it, it's useless. No worries though, he hobbles around just fine. He's just about conquered his disability, he's greatly loved, and he's a very happy puppy.

Anyway, I miss my home and my family. I miss my family, salt water, warm water in my shower, rain, and cultural diversity.

(Luckily my low isn't really all too low.)

High of the week, Heather and I are taking a trip down to Utah this weekend. It will be nice to escape the subzero temps and be able to lay low at aunt Julie's house for a few days. And! I'll have all of my tests taken before we go so the only thing I'll have to do for school while I'm gone is a bit of reading. It feels really good to be caught up/ahead of my assignments.

I've had a few heavy spiritual experiences this week. Some good, some challenging. I'm grateful that God knows me so well, that even when I can't quite grasp new principles, He eventually provides a way for me to understand.

I know that God is real, He is my Father in Heaven, and that His son, Jesus Christ atoned for all of man kind. The stress of it all is what I think tarnishes the whole idea. As the 25th comes closer and closer, the tension gets tighter and tighter. Our minds are on shopping, presents, parties, cookies, christmas lessons at church, burning the overload of calories being consumed, travel plans, weather, budgets, vacation days and more...As Christmas Eve knocks on our door, we scramble to tie together all of the loose ends. Through out the day, as we prepare the big meal our family has, every once in a while someone snaps. Glares are given, words are said, deeds go undone and the occasional tears are shed.

Though there are those few moments when we let the stress get the best of us, I cannot go to sleep with out thinking through all of the beautiful moments of the day. My dad takes so much pride in the prime rib he prepares, Carly and Chad peacefully coexist and spread their heartfelt feelings throughout the family. Rachel and Jake bring so much warmth to our home as they share their kids, Cooper and Jack, with us. Our family loves each other so much.

A little blog can't describe all of the things my mother does to bring Christmas cheer into our home all season long. She bakes never ending supplies of cookies, plans and buys glorious gifts, she makes the most amazing caramel apples to share with countless friends and family members, she prepares and sends out seasonal greetings, attends chior concerts, cleans, cooks...she's super woman. What makes me happiest is knowing my mom does so much for all of us because she loves us.

When Christmas morning rolls around, it's peaceful and calm in our house. Chad wakes up the family to get things started and we all stumble into the living room. We're blessed with a large and comfortable Christmas each year by our loving parents and our Heavenly Father.

Today, as we enjoy the warmth of the fireplace, the comfort of our couches, the tasty treats and fun conversation I think of my Savior who was born. I remember that if it were not for his Atoning Sacrifice, Christmas would mean nothing at all. I know that Christ lives, that He loves us, and that He is always waiting to bless us.

I hope that everyone has a loving holiday!

What's New?

Ooopsie! I'm completely obsessed with the Twilight series! What a dream...and JACOB, holy cow. I was skeptical when he was introduced as Jacob in the first movie and even as I learned he'd beefed up enough to still play the character in New Moon. But when he walked on screen in the pooring rain with his hair cut and no shirt my jaw dropped. For a few seconds I traded teams and definitely cheered for team Jacob! However, Edward is just undeniable.

After my sweet sleep last night, I woke up and watched Star Trek for the first time. I fell in love with that movie too! Apparently my life isn't exciting enough to want it as my own. But still, it felt great. I've also been fighting off a cold so I've got that as an excuse. I gave a few haircuts this morning and earned some cool cash! I love cutting hair. I'm excited to finish my associates degree and BYU-Idaho so I can go to the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute in Seattle. What a neat place!

I'm very excited for tonight. Some friends and I are going to Fort Worden! I've been there a few times but never at night! It's an old military base with abondoned bunkers and other various haunted spots where it gets SO DARk you can't even see your hand in front of your face! So far, there are only a few of us going but we're slowly rounding up the troops. I'll take lots of pictures tonight to post later. Friends have come and gone, morals have been tested, changed, and improved. Overall, I feel really good about the person I am becoming. I still feel stuck though. I'm learning more and more about myself, who I am, what my limits are, the things that really make me happy, and the kinds of people I want in my life. It's amazing and slightly terrifying as well. Lately, I've been slowing down and really looking at what I want and what the next steps to take will be. So far, I'm realizing how lukcy I am to have so many options. I'll be returning to school in January to finish my associates degree, but then what? Will I continue for my BA? At BYUI? or will I make a transfer to BYU Provo? Should I submit the paperwork to serve a mission for my church? Will I go to hair school? If I go to hair school, will I do it in Seattle? Or should I leave home for a bit? I could run in a thousand different directions. Thats definitely a blessing. I have a friend whos really good at taking the opportunities God gives him and doing well. I'd like to be more like that friend.

I've had continual thoughts about going to the temple. I think soon I'll take a trip over there to sit and think. Maybe thats what I need. Maybe God will answer me there. Maybe He's already answering and I'm jsut not hearing...

Pumpkin Pie

Tanner went with me to my church's
pumpkin carving contest. I saw my old friend Scotty. We met when we were 14 at summer camp and were pen pals all through high school.
Its funny to think I've only seen him 4 times in the 7 years I've known him.
We played some catch up after not having spoken much over the past year. We've both been pretty busy with life. He's kicking cancers butt right now and I couldn't be more impressed with how 'okay' with it he is.
Really, he's more than okay with it. He's so happy and in love with life still. It's amazing.
I also went to Megan's wedding with my mom. She looked beautiful, of course. She always has been. It had been absolutely pooring all weekend, dumping sheets of water onto my windshield keeping me from seeing anything as I drove but as we got up to Port Gamble the clouds cleared and the sun came out! SO gorgeous up there.
GOD is good. Church was mindspinning. What a magic story.
Jake, Rachel, and I are about to explode at the DECCLO seams. So much progress is being made in our BRAINS but we're still waiting for the website to go up so we can really get going.
Other then that! Rach and I are headed to a couple thrift shops today to find her an old prom dress. First, I tried Pai Mu Tan tea. It tastes like butter with the feel of velvet. My teeth sang as the treat swooshed passed them, down my throat, sinking deep into my belly after coating it with love! Can a tea be so good? Yes, it can.

Second thing I did today worth mentioning, I tried REALLY hard at work to do a REALLY good job with every task I was given. I feel better knowing I'm doing nothing wrong. That my boss can't blame me for anything, and that I'm the best at what I do.
Third, I helped someone who doesn't like me. Is that a strange thing to mention? I've made it a goal to actually befriend people. Silly, right? I'd say what currently worries me most in life is how easily I can shut everyone out and still be totally content. Though I charish my alone time now, I get the feeling this is a slippery slope. One that I'll regret having slipped on, later down the road.

I guess you could count 'starting a blog' as event number 4, but lets be real. I'll probably ditch this thing in a few weekes.
